Children and Worship
Our main worship Sunday mornings includes liturgy for the children every week. The children begin the service in Sunday school and return to the worship space during the passing of the Peace. Each Sunday the rector or one of the church school leaders interacts with the children in a children’s talk. This talk is designed to help kids feel comfortable in church, feel valued by the minister, and encourages the children to ask questions and learn in a fun, non-threatening environment.
Children of all ages are welcome to receive the eucharist at the communion rail. Once a year the parish offers a Saturday morning instruction program about the eucharist for children. Parents who do not want their child to receive the eucharist are encouraged to ask the priest to bless their child as they arrive at the altar rail.
Nursery Care
During our 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services the parish provides a paid, qualified attendant to look after infants and children under five years of age. Our nursery is clean and well appointed with change tables, cribs, age-appropriate toys. Parents can worship secure in the knowledge that their child is being well cared for by our qualified and mature, caring staff. Come meet Colleen Harvie, our nursery care worker. Colleen is a student at Laurier, Brantford.
Sunday School
Grace Church has a full Church school for primary school children every Sunday at our main 10:30 a.m. service. Children are taught some of the classic Bible stories and teachings of Jesus, sing songs, make crafts, and we reinforce the core faith-based values that you teach and model as parents at home.
P.A. Days
One of the important outreach ministries of Grace Church that the community has embraced have been our children's P.A. Days. These days run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. They're full of fun and activities for children ages 4-10. Snacks and lunches are provided and there is no cost to the parents.February 3rd, 2006 is our next scheduled P.A. Day.
Vacation Bible School
Grace Church sponsors and operates a very successful Vacation Bible School for one week in August. In past summers we have held programs such as a Safari Adventure theme and averaged 40+ children a day at this highly successful VBS.
Teen Programming
On Sunday September 30th, 2007 at 7 p.m. our new youth group will be kicking off its new season. The youth group is open to youth in Grades 7-12.
The meeting will take place in the newly renovated Youth room loft. The room has had many improvements and now includes many new table games, playstation, and a DVD player. Its the best room in the building!
Teens are always encouraged to take advantage of the rector’s availability for them if they need a listening ear.
